The
UK Paint & Effects market was worth close to £1.1 billion in 2006 and is
forecast to grow at around 2-3% per annum on overage between
2007-2010, according to the 4th edition of the “Paint &
Effects Market – UK 2007” recently published by
AMA Research.
The report, which is available for
purchase at £625, reviews the paint and woodcare sectors in the UK. The
report provides an in depth analysis of the both the overall market and
the individual paint and woodcare sectors. The report also provides a
detailed account of the individual product sectors including emulsions,
solvents and interior and exterior woodcare.
In addition the
report provides analysis of product sectors in terms of size, major
trends and key influences on the market, product mix, profiles of the
main suppliers and distribution channels with their respective market
share and forecasts of future prospects to 2010.
The paint and
effects market has experienced a reasonable level of growth during 2006,
having declined slightly in 2005. The market was aided by an improved
performance in the DIY sector and higher levels of consumer spending on
décor products while the woodcare sector was assisted by improved
weather conditions. Emulsion paint continued to perform well and garden
woodcare products were boosted by strong sales of garden furniture
products.
AMA’s report also
provides an insight into the future prospects for the floorcoverings
market with indications of reasonable value growth to 2010. The trend
towards flats and the demand for housing should stimulate demand for
paint in both the domestic and trade sectors in the medium term.
However, the trend towards flats may have a negative impact on the
woodcare sector although this may be stimulated by a demand for higher
priced convenience products. In general, however it is difficult to
predict the future performance of the market due to ever changing
fashion trends and the performance of the economy.
