In recent years the market for bathroom and kitchen PODs has experienced good growth, with opportunities across several end-use application sectors. However, with the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown of the UK economy in 2020, the UK bathroom and kitchen PODs market saw a significant value decline of around -15%. This was mainly attributed to the widespread disruption caused by distribution issues, also construction site closures at the peak of the pandemic restrictions.

In 2021, the UK bathroom and kitchen PODs market bounced back, with the successful roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccine programme positively influencing business confidence levels and investment. This recovery was despite the ongoing supply chain issues following Brexit, with a shortage of imported products and materials, increases in prices and longer lead times.

In addition, with the loss of EU workers because of Brexit, there is a shortage of skilled labour that is essential for traditional, onsite methods of construction. This has become an important driver of demand for bathroom and kitchen PODs as offsite construction methods require fewer trade skills onsite.
